Flint and Steel Kit No. 6

Flint and Steel Kit No 6 includes a tan and beige genuine leather bag, containing everything you need to start a campfire in the same way that your medieval ancestors would have done. In fact, even the design of the leather bag was inspired by those prevalent during the Middle Ages.

This genuine leather bag is adjustable and can be closed with a clasp to protect its contents from the effects of the weather. It also comes with a strap, allowing it to be fastened to your waist or worn over your shoulder. You could even hang it from a tree branch while you gather firewood or build a fire pit.

At Flint and Steel, we want to ensure that you can make a fire at any time, rain or shine, during your trip into the wilderness. With this in mind, we have specially designed the leather bag to open in such a way as to minimize the exposure of its contents to the elements. If you live in an area where it's often windy, raining or snowing, this traditional fire making kit will be perfect for you.

This fire starter kit contains everything you need to make a fire, including:

  • A hand-forged high carbon firesteel, 3” (75 mm) in length
  • A small tin container of linen-based char cloth tinder
  • Three pieces of high-grade dark gray flint stone
  • Two bundles of jute twine kindling
  • A foldable, fully illustrated user manual

To ensure we maintain and preserve the methods and ways of our artisan forebears, everything in our kits is either handmade, hand-picked or specially selected. We still employ natural, traditional means of producing the components of our kits, including the use of charcoal to heat our forge and fresh spring water to quench our steel.

You can watch our videos to find out more about our traditional fire making kits and the flint and steel fire lighting method.
